Nicola Tesla was a great inventor and an engineer who contributed his entire life to invent something without which we cannot even live nowadays, that's electricity. His interest in the electrical invention was all from his mother who used to invent small appliances in his childhood. But his father was a priest who wanted his son to join the priesthood but he was very much fascinated towards science. There are 3 movies on Tesla - The Secret of Nikola Tesla, The Prestige, and Nikola Tesla - The Genius Who Lit the World.
He invented and contributed a number of ideas like the dynamo and the induction motor. The AC that we use in our houses is invented by Tesla. He also has his hand in other inventions like radar technology, X-ray, Tesla Coil.
AC Electrical System
Tesla's most famous contribution was AC and after his invention, he filed petitions for its recognition and started his own company Tesla Electric Company. He received $60,000 dollar from his petition and gained popularity and fame which helped the whole country to receive long-distance electricity transmission.
He was the first to design the AC hydroelectric power plant at Niagara Falls. The famous "Tesla Coil", which laid the foundation of wireless technologyTesla coil is an inductor used in many early radio transmission antennas. The coil works with a capacitor to resonate current and voltage from a power source across the circuit. Tesla himself used his coil to study fluorescence, x-rays, radio, wireless power and electromagnetism in the earth and its atmosphere.
Tesla Motors
In 2003, Tesla Motors was founded by a group of engineers dedicated to Nikola Tesla and again in 2004 Elon Musk funded $30 million to Tesla Motors and he is now the CEO of Tesla Motors. Tesla Motors manufactures electric sports cars which are very powerful and have a competitive edge to other car manufactures. In 2008, the company launched the Roadster, the first electric car.
In 1885, Tesla was joined by some inventors to develop improved arc lightning but he was kicked out from the venture and had to work as a manual labor for some time. But again, after two years, he was funded for his new Electric Company.
Tesla had a nervous breakdown after the closure of his free energy project. After this , he became impractical and eccentric and devoted much of his time to wild pigeons in New York. He died on 7 Jan, 1943.
