LHC( Large Hadron Collider) is between the borders of France and Switzerland and it is one hundred metre beneath the ground. It has the power to destroy all life on earth. It is the world's largest machine and its use it to examine the world's tiniest particles.

European Organisation of Nuclear Research has been handling the LHC.LHC connects to CERN's accelerator complex outside Switzerland. When the LHC is turned on it emits proton beams at very high velocity nearing the speed of light. The beams collide with each other and then the result is recorded from the events caused by the collision. Scientists believe that these events will tell that how our Universe began and every mystery of the universe will come forward.

Till date, LHC is the most powerful particle accelerator in the whole universe and it has some unique capabilities that can root out the human existence too. Thousands of scientists are working on the LHC to discover the hidden mystery and the purpose of LHC is to increase the knowledge of us about the universe.

The main goals of the LHC are:

1. Identify Higgs( probably more famously known as the God particle). The Higgs mechanism( something which is too technical to explain), offers masses to particles through electroweak symmetry breaking. Google up the landmark discovery of higgs in 2012.

2. Find dark matter candidates, which fill up about 25% of the universe, but are very difficult to observe because they interact only through the weak force and gravity.

3. Find extra dimensions.According to string theory, our universe actually has 10 dimensions, but except the euclidean three dimensions, all others are "apparently" too small to be observed. String theory is only a theory as of now, as no experiment has validated any of its predictions. However, it does give answers to many questions related to The Big Bang, and hence experimentalists have the job to testify this at the LHC.

4. Finding supersymmetric particles(SUSY). It basically says, for every fermion( half-integer spin particle), there must be a boson (integer spin). For eg, electron is a fermion with a spin 1/2 . SUSY says that there must be a  boson, with mass, and all other quantum numbers exactly like the electron, but with an integer spin.

I hope you guys get to know something new and out of the box. Please comment below
